Two People Tragically Killed in Wrong-Way, Head-On Collision on old U.S. Highway 52 in Lexington, North Carolina (NC)

LEXINGTON, NC - A news article published on usnews.com reports that two people were tragically killed following a head-on collision with a wrong-way driver on old U.S. Highway 52.*  The North Carolina State Highway Patrol stated that a motor vehicle was heading northbound along old U.S. Highway 52 when the car crossed the road's centerline and drove northbound in the southbound traffic lane.    

The patrol identified the motor accident victims as a 76-year-old man and a 75-year-old woman. The two victims were both residents of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. 

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol stated that the wrong-way driver was transported to a local area hospital for treatment of accident-related injuries. The accident is currently under investigation, and criminal charges are expected.
