Fatal Pedestrian Accident on N.C. Highway 11 in Kinston, North Carolina (N.C.)

KINSTON, NC - A news story published on reports that one person was tragically killed, and the victim's family is mourning following a car accident with a Kinston police officer.*  The motor vehicle accident occurred at approximately 8:30 PM along N.C. Highway 11 close to Caswell Street.

The victim who was hit and killed has been identified as a 53-year-old man from Kinston. The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is currently investigating the fatal accident. Family members and other people in the community state that they have questions about what transpired.

According to North Carolina State Highway Patrol troopers, a Kinston police officer was driving his patrol cruise when he hit and killed the victim. The victim was then transported to UNC Lenoir for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

According to the victim's family, they just want justice and to find out what led to the crash. Some people stated to 9OYS, a local radio station, that the area is very dangerous to pedestrians, and they are hoping to see drivers be more careful on the roads.

Members of the community stated that they want to know if the police officer stopped right away at the accident scene and how fast the officer was driving. Family members have questions about how their loved one was hit and killed by Kinston police cruiser
