Two-year-old Boy Tragically Killed in Pedestrian Accident in Statesville, North Carolina

STATESVILLE, NC - A news story published on myfox8.com reports that a 2-year-old boy was tragically killed in a pedestrian accident in Statesville, North Carolina.*  According to the Statesville Police Department, the pedestrian accident occurred at 5:54 PM in the 1000 block of 5th Street of Statesville. 

The young boy was taken to Davis Hospital, where he tragically passed away due to his injuries. 

The Statesville Police reported that the driver was operating a Ford Taurus, and he was heading southbound along 5th Street.

The fatal accident is currently under investigation by the Statesville Police Department's Traffic Unit.  The Statesville Police Department stated that the department is respecting the wishes of the victim's family to hold off on issuing a press release.  No charges have been filed against the driver at this time.  Therefore, the driver's identity was not released in the report.
