Alledged Drunk Driver Collides with a Logging Truck on U.S. Highway 52 in North Carolina (NC)

NORTH CAROLINA - According to an online accident news report on thesnaponline.com, an alleged drunk driving crashed into a logging truck and charged her with DWI.*

The North Carolina Highway Patrol stated that the woman had been charged with DWI, felony child abuse, failure to reduce speed, two misdemeanor child abuse charges, and driving on a suspended driver's license. According to the report, the woman and one of her kids were airlifted to a local area Charlotte hospital. First Sargeant J.M. Jackson of the North Carolina State Highway Patrol stated that the woman had three children in the motor vehicle with her at the time of the collision.

First Sargeant Jackson stated that the crash happened Wednesday afternoon along U.S. Highway 52 between Cottonville and Bowers roads, close to the City of Norwood. 

The news report states that the woman, who is from Norwood, North Carolina, was operating a Chevrolet SUV when she did not reduce her speed, and she crashed into the logging truck, which was stopped. First Sargeant Jackson stated that logs crashed through the woman's windshield.

According to the accident report, the woman and one of her kids, a 9-year-old, sustained severe injuries, and the two victims were airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center. Her two other two kids were transported to Atrium Health Stanly and will survive.

The identities of the parties involved in the accident were not released, and the investigation is ongoing.
