UPS 18-Wheeler Tractor-trailer Truck Crashes on I-77 in Iredell County, North Carolina (NC)
IREDELL COUNTY, NC - According to an accident news article on counton2.com, a UPS tractor-trailer truck was involved in an accident on I-77 in Iredell County, North Carolina.*
North Carolina State Highway Patrol trooper reported that dozens of packages were scattered along I-77. The trucking accident occurred at approximately 11:00 near the 43-mile marker. North Carolina State Highway Patrol troopers stated that the United Parcel Service 18-wheeler was heading southbound when the truck ran off the road and onto the highway's shoulder. The truck then smashed through a guardrail, jackknifed, and crashed into a wooded area.
Fortunately, no one was killed in the accident. A passenger in the UPS truck was the only individual to sustain harm in the accident. The passenger was taken to a local area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol troopers, the truck driver received a traffic citation for failing to maintain lane control. Troopers closed off one lane of traffic for several hours in order to cleanup the roadway. North Carolina State Highway Patrol troopers are currently investigating the truck accident.
