Tragic, Fatal Tractor-Trailer Accident on N.C. 49 in Randolph County, North Carolina
According to an online news report published on courier-tribune.com, one person was tragically killed in a severe motor vehicle collision with an 18-wheeler in Randolph County, North Carolina.*
At approximately 10:35 pm, a 33-year-old man from Ramseur was heading north in the southbound lane of N.C. 49. The fatal head-on accident occurred on December 17, 2020. According to a report and statement provided by Sargeant Marcus Ward of the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the 33-year-old man from Ramsey hit an 18-wheeler tractor-trailer truck head-on.
The 33-year-old Ramsey man was tragically killed in the collision and passed away at the accident scene. Fortunately, the truck driver was not injured in the head-on collision. The truck's name has not been released.
A section of N.C. 49 was shut down for approximately six hours to work the accident scene. At this time, it's unknown why the driver in the car was driving in the wrong lane. The head-on collision is currently under investigation.
