One Tragically Killed, Three Others Injured in an Accident in Darlington County, North Carolina

According to an online news report published on wmbfnews.com, one person was killed, and three others were severely injured in a rollover accident in Darlington County, North Carolina.*

South Carolina Highway Patrol Master Trooper Brian Lee said the crash occurred at approximately 1:50 in the morning.  The rollover accident happened in the vicinity of Weaver Street and S.C. 403.  Master Trooper Lee stated that a Ford pickup truck was heading south along highway S.C. 403.  Master Trooper Lee stated that the vehicle ran off the roadway, overcorrected, and then overturned.  Tragically, the rollover accident resulted in the death of one passenger, and the other three occupants were transported to a local area hospital.  

Todd Hardee, the Darlington County Coroner, was able to identify the 24-year-old accident victim who passed away due to his injuries.  

The rollover accident is currently under investigation by the Darlington County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol. 

According to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration, rollover accidents are often caused by the interaction of the driver, vehicle, road, and environmental factors.  Rollover accidents are violent in nature and result in severe, life-threatening injuries.  Data collected by the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration shows that about 85% of rollover accident-related fatalities are the result of single vehicle accidents.  This further demonstrates that driver behavior plays a substantial role in rollover accidents.
