Tragic, Fatal Pedestrian Accident Lands Repeat DWI Offender in Jail in Charlotte, North Carolina

December 14, 2020

According to an online news report published on, a repeat DWI offender struck and tragically killed a mother of a 5-year-old child on Reagan Drive in North Charlotte, North Carolina.*

The driver is currently sitting in jail awaiting trial. The mother of the victim provided details about the tragic and preventable accident. The victim was on her way to visit her mother who resides in the Crossroads Apartments. The woman's wreckage was so severe that the emergency first responders needed to use the "Jaws of Life" to free the woman from her vehicle.

The mother of the young victim stated, "There's no punishment that they can give him that can amount to the value of my daughter's life."

The 5-year-old boy who survived the severe car accident misses his mother, and he is not old enough to know that his mother was tragically killed.

Charlotte police stated that the driver, a 62-year-old man, struck the victim's car from behind. The suspect now faces driving while impaired, driving while license revoked for DWI, and felony death by motor vehicle. The suspect was also arrested on November 2, 2020, for a separate DWI charge. A criminal law attorney stated that the suspect faces a minimum of ten years in prison.
