Child Tragically Killed in a Serious Car Accident in Halifax County, North Carolina (NC)

According to an online news report published on roanoke-chowannewsherald.com, a local child was tragically killed in a serious motor vehicle accident in Halifax County, North Carolina.*

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol reported on a fatal accident that tragically killed a six-year-old from Murfreesboro.  The motor vehicle accident was so severe that the collision tragically killed the driver and injured many others people.  North Carolina State Highway Patrol Sergeant A.S. Genao stated that the deceased were identified.  The victims were an adult man, woman and child from Enfield, North Carolina. 

The female driver was tragically pronounced dead at the accident scene while her adult passenger passed away after being transported to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, South Carolina. The survivors in the motor vehicle accident were a 20-year-old woman from Murfreesboro, and two 7-year-old children from Enfield, and a six-month-old girl from Enfield.  The news report stated that their medical conditions were not disclosed. 

According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol Sergeant A.S. Genao, the driver and of her passengers were not wearing seatbelts and they were thrown out of the motor vehicle at the time of the accident.  The accident report, states the female driver was driving a 2010 Chevrolet car, just after 8 pm.  She was traveling northbound along SR 1206 about six miles northwest of Enfield. The car allegedly crossed the centerline and then traveled off the road, struck a ditch, and the collided with an embankment.  The vehicle rolled over several times.

North Carolina State Highway Patrol Sergeant A.S. Genao stated that it was unknown if drugs or alcohol contributed to the fatal accident.  However,  toxicology results are pending and the results will be appended to the medical examiner’s final report.
