Two Deadly Crashes Kill Three in Crisp County, Georgia (GA)
CRISP COUNTY, GA- Cordeledispatch.com writes that two separate deadly crashes occurred this week in Crisp County, Georgia. The first of the two incidents took place on Interstate 75 in the late evening.*
That crash happened close to exit 101 in the southbound lanes. Two of the individuals involved in the wreck died at the scene. The authorities identified the victims as a 25-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman. Reports did not include details regarding the cause of that crash, nor did they state whether other individuals sustained injuries in the accident.
Also, in Crisp County this week, A deadly pedestrian crash occurred late in the evening. That accident took place on Joe Wright Drive. The 48-year-old victim was a resident of Cordele. Officers state that the man died at the scene. One of the investigating officers expressed sadness over the loss of life. He went on to explain that both collisions happened at night and that visibility is likely to have factored into both accidents. Police are still looking for more information about both deadly collisions and asked that witness is at anyone with information contact investigators.
Georgia has been working to make its roads safer for the public. Distracted driving is one of the major factors involved in many deadly crashes. In an effort to prevent distracted driving, Georgia enacted a hands-free law in 2018. That law makes it illegal for drivers to use a handheld electronic device while operating a car. Although the number of fatal crashes dropped in 2018, they increased ever so slightly in 2019. The increase from 1,504 crash-related deaths to 1,507 crash-related deaths might sound minor, but fatal collisions declined nationally over that same time period. Most deadly crashes are the result of human error.
