Motorcyclists face a higher risk of death and injury on the road. Without the many protective features of passenger vehicles, riders are left exposed and are more vulnerable in collisions. However, the lack of safety features is not the only risk that motorcyclists face. Other drivers frequently fail to notice motorcyclists on the road. This can lead to motorcycle versus car crashes, and in those events, the motorcyclist or motorcyclists are more likely to suffer the worst injuries and consequences of that wreck.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, motorcyclists are about 28 times more at risk of suffering deadly injuries in a crash than are people who are traveling as occupants of passenger cars. While motorcycle helmets and bright clothing may help reduce the risk of a crash or severe injury, it is the responsibility of drivers on the road to keep an eye out for motorcycles.
