Traffic Delays Reported Because of Crash on US 421 in Wilkesboro, North Carolina (NC)

WILKESBORO, NC- Journalpatriot.com writes that a crash took place this week in Wilkesboro that led to long delays on US 421. A car and a pickup truck collided leading to the pickup truck colliding with a utility pole.*

According to reports, the incident occurred on US 421 at Dancy Road. One of the vehicles was a 2001 Honda, and the other was a 1986 Chevrolet pickup truck. The two crashed, and the impact caused the pickup truck to strike the utility pole, and the pole then fell onto the cab of the truck and the hood. Power lines then fell across the intersection. 

Reports state that the pickup truck, which was driven by a 60-year-old man, was heading eastbound on US 421, and the 2001 Honda was traveling south on Dancy Road. Following the impact, officers cited the man operating the pickup truck with violating a traffic signal. The wreck occurred in the late morning and led to traffic delays for several miles. The traffic lights had to be removed from the scene, and the clean up caused delays into the evening. Officials stated that the delays were extended by the need to replace the utility pole.
