Woman from Dallas Dies in Tragic accident in Gaston County, North Carolina (NC)

April 30, 2020

GASTON COUNTY, NC- Gastongazette.com writes that a woman died in a two-vehicle collision over the weekend. Another two people were injured in the crash, and the incident resulted in a police pursuit.*

Reports indicate that a 24-year-old driver from Dallas was heading northbound on Old Dallas Highway in the morning when he drifted across the center line and into oncoming traffic. The driver’s Jeep Liberty collided head-on with a southbound Honda Civic near Gastonia. Two people were in the Honda, including a 66-year-old woman and a 64-year-old man, both of whom are also from Dallas. Responders rushed the victims to the hospital, but the woman died while being transported. The man was transported to a Charlotte hospital via airlift where his condition was reportedly critical. Police stated that the victims were a married couple. Following the horrific collision, the driver of the Jeep exited his SUV and, according to witnesses at the scene, appeared to be dazed. The man then fled on foot into the woods. A short while later, the Gaston County Police arrived and pursued the suspect with the help of the canine unit.
