Owners of Barbeque Restaurant Suffer Injuries in Deadly Wreck
DAVIDSON COUNTY, NC- The-dispatch.com writes that a family was involved in a terrible collision that led to the death of one person. The parents were in their car with their three-year-old son at the time of the incident. Reports indicate that the couple’s family-owned barbecue restaurant will re-open this week, but that the couple will not be returning at this time.*
The crash occurred on North Carolina Highway 8 when the family was traveling north in a 2018 Ford van. A 2019 Honda SUV that was traveling southbound when it crossed the center line and struck the family’s vehicle head-on.
The victim, identified as an 83-year-old woman, was driving the Honda at the time. Responders rushed her to the hospital via airlift, but she died at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.
According to the injured restaurant owner’s father, the driver operating the van suffered serious injuries and required two surgeries for leg injuries and was meant to undergo a third procedure on his arm. Unfortunately, he had a reaction during surgery, and his condition declined into a life-threatening state. Currently, he is improving, but his condition is still not stable.
The wife sustained injuries in the crash as well, which were complicated by the fact that she was more than eight months pregnant when the wreck took place. She is scheduled to undergo a C-section in the next few weeks. The three-year-old boy sustained neck injuries and is still recovering in the hospital.
The family is trying to get the business running because it is their source of their income, and they have employees who rely on their paychecks as well.
