Crash Injures Ten on Highway 11 in White County, Georgia
WHITE COUNTY, GA- White.fetchyournews.com writes that a driver is facing charges in relation to a crash involving three vehicles on SR 11 this week. The incident occurred when a 30-year-old woman was traveling too closely behind a Kia Sedona and struck the vehicle. The impact caused the Sedona to collide with a Toyota Tundra that was in front of the Kia. The Toyota was reportedly stopped and waiting to make a left turn.*
The driver who caused the collision was traveling with four juvenile passengers in her vehicle. The woman and all four of the children sustained injuries in the wreck. One of the injured children was transported to the hospital via life flight. The driver in the Sedona, a 32-year-old woman, and two of her passengers, both of whom were children, all suffered injuries as well. One of the children in the Kia was transported to the hospital via airlift. The two people in the Toyota also sustained injuries in the collision.
Most rear-end crashes are the result of a driver who was not paying attention to the road. These incidents are extremely common. However, about 1,700 people die in rear-end crashes each year in the United States. Drivers who pay attention to the road can avoid causing these crashes. Another way to prevent these incidents would be to use crash avoidance systems that are capable of alerting drivers when they are approaching another vehicle at too high a rate of speed. Some cars even break themselves to prevent such a crash. Unfortunately, many older cars on the road do not have this type of equipment.
