North Carolina Driver’s Vision Obstructed by Frosty Windshield at time of Tragic Pedestrian Crash
HIGH POINT, NC- Sun-sentinel.com writes that a woman struck and killed one person, and injured another in a pedestrian crash late last week.*
The driver, a 33-year-old woman, reportedly struck the victims from behind after crossing over the center line in the road. Police charged the driver for reckless driving.
The crash killed an 80-year-old man and injured his wife, a 78-year-old woman. The man died days after the impact, and the woman received treatment and has since been released.
In the course of the investigation, police found that the crash was likely caused in part by the driver's failure to defrost her windshield prior to driving her vehicle. The frosted windshield would have obstructed the woman's view of the roadway and created severe risks to herself and others on the roadway.
The police say that additional charges will be added because one of the victims has now died from his injuries.
