Two Accidents Result in Tragic Death of Two Individuals on Interstate 77 in Janesville, North Carolina

JONESVILLE, NC – According to an online news report at yadkinripple.com,  two individuals tragically died in two vehicular accidents on Interstate 77 at mile marker 82.*

A woman from Roanoke, Virginia was a passenger riding in a vehicle that was stuck between two 18-wheeler trucks in an accident that occurred in late October.  The driver, a female, as well as the passenger, sustained serious injuries in the crash and were transported to a local hospital after being extricated from their vehicle by emergency personnel.  The passenger ultimately died at the hospital in early November, per the North Carolina Highway Patrol.  Per troopers, traffic had been at a standstill at mile marker 82 when an 18-wheeler truck driven by a man did not stop.  This caused him to hit into the female driver’s vehicle as well as another 18-wheeler tractor-trailer truck.  

In another accident, a male driver from New York tragically died in a second accident at the same location on Interstate 77 on the following day after the first crash.  The accident also involved an 18-wheeler which did not stop, causing two vehicles to crash into another 18-wheeler.  A total of six individuals, including several minors, were taken to an area hospital for treatment.  The male driver from New York was taken by medical helicopter to a local hospital where he later died.  The driver of the tractor-trailer that failed to stop was driven by a man from Georgia. 

In the first and second accidents, the tractor-trailer drivers who failed to stop are being charged with failure to reduce speed and misdemeanor death by vehicle.
