Two Individuals Airlifted After Severe Crash in Pine Bluff, North Carolina

November 05, 2019

PINE BLUFF, NC- Sandhillssentinel.com writes that a severe accident occurred on U.S. Highway 1 near Pinebluff over the weekend. The crash took place in the early evening and left both of the vehicles involved with severe damage. A Chevrolet was on its side, and one of the occupants was trapped inside of that vehicle.*

Rescue workers were able to extricate the person from the vehicle with the use of hydraulic tools, which they used to remove the roof. The female victim was then transported to the trauma center via airlift.

Another individual was also taken to the trauma via airlift, and several others were taken to the Firsthealth Moore Regional in Pinehurst. The crash shut down the northbound lanes of U.S. northbound while the emergency workers attended to the victims and then cleared the roadway of debris.

A tow truck was near the accident right after it took place, and the workers were able to turn the vehicle over to give better access to rescue workers.

Every year, there are about six million car accidents in the United States, leading to three million injuries. More than 90 people lose their lives because of car crashes each day. About six percent of crashes end in a fatality. Fatal accidents often involve dangerous drivers. For instance, 40 percent of deadly accidents involve alcohol, 30 percent involve a driver who was speeding, and 33 percent involve reckless driving. Most car crashes could be avoided if drivers were more cautious behind the wheel. Of course, everyone can reduce their risk of injury by wearing a seatbelt. Seatbelts reduce the risk of severe injuries by about 50 percent. While most people use seatbelts, about one out of seven admit to not using one.
