Fatal Vehicle Accident Reported on Runnymede Lane in Charlotte, North Carolina

CHARLOTTE, NC. – According to an online news story reported by wcnc.com, a fatal vehicle accident was reported on Runnymede Lane in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is still in the early stages of its investigation into the accident, and officers have released limited information at this time.*

The accident happened in the morning in the 2900 block of Runnymede Lane/Rockbrook Drive, close to the intersection with Colony Road. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department and WCNC report that around 8 a.m., emergency responders were called to the area for a traffic accident. It is not clear from the news report how many vehicles were involved in the crash.

The types of vehicles that collided were not described, so the makes and models of the vehicles are not known. No information about what led to the collision or what events occurred prior to the crash was reported. It is unclear how the vehicles came to crash or what might have caused the accident. 

WCNC reports that one person was tragically killed in the accident. This person was not identified in the news story. In addition, WCNC states that two people were injured in the crash, and they were both transported to Atrium Health-Main for treatment. They were also not identified by officials. Their injuries were said to be serious in nature. Current medical conditions were not provided. 

The crash caused all lanes of Runnymede to close down for a period of time. The closure spanned from Colony Road to Sharon Road. It is not clear how long the road remained closed. The police investigation into the accident is not yet complete, and no further information was included in the report from WCNC. It is unclear at this time whether any charges are anticipated in connection with the wreck.
