Moped Driver Injured in Hit-and-Run Crash in Raleigh, North Carolina

RALEIGH, NC. – According to an online news story reported at wral.com, a moped driver was injured in a hit-and-run crash in Raleigh, North Carolina. The accident reportedly occurred on Falls of Neuse Road, and the other driver involved in the incident fled from the scene. Police officers are asking members of the public to contact them with any information.*

The accident occurred late in the evening at the intersection of Falls of Neuse Road and Newton Road. The Raleigh Police Department and WRAL report that at approximately 11 p.m., a moped and a car were traveling toward the intersection on different roads. It is unclear what direction the two vehicles were traveling at the time. At the crossing, the driver of the car attempted a left turn from Newton Road onto Falls of Neuse Road. 

In making the turn, officers say the car crashed into the moped. It is not yet clear what events led to the accident. The report did not say whether officers had identified any factors that might have played a role in the collision. After the impact, the driver of the car left the scene. 

WRAL reports that the driver of the moped was injured in the collision and transported to a local hospital for treatment. The extent of this person’s injuries and his or her medical condition were not reported. The victim was not identified in the news story. 

The driver of the car has also not been identified, and officers are still searching for him or her. No description of a suspect has been released. The car is said to be gray in color. The make and model of the car were not provided in the report. Anyone with information about the accident or the whereabouts of the suspect is asked to call the Raleigh Police Department.
