Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Investigating Hit-and-Run Accident

October 29, 2019

CHARLOTTE, NC – According to an online news report at wcnc.com, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is searching for a hit-and-run accident that caused a female pedestrian to sustain serious injuries.*

According to eyewitnesses, a red Infiniti sedan did not stop after striking a female pedestrian crossing the roadway.   The woman sustained serious injuries after she was hit on Monroe Road in southeastern Charlotte earlier this week, per police.

Police note that they were dispatched to the scene of an accident that involved a pedestrian close to Covedale Drive and Timber Springs Drive in the nighttime hours.  When officers arrived at the scene, they found a woman on the sidewalk who was struck by a vehicle.  She was quickly transported to a local hospital where she is being treated for serious injuries.  The woman’s age and identification have not been released to the public.

At the time of the accident, the driver was heading northwest on Monroe Road in the right-hand lane when the crash occurred.  The driver did not stop to render aid to the woman and was last seen turning onto Village Lake Drive.

Anyone with information about this crash or any other incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600. You can also call 911 if you see the suspect vehicle.
