Deadly Pedestrian Accident Reported on Timber Dr. in Garner, North Carolina

GARNER, NC. – According to a news story reported online at cbs17.com, a deadly pedestrian accident took place on Timber Drive in Garner, North Carolina. Officials have not yet released identifying information on the victim, and investigators are saying they do not anticipate charges being filed in the case.*

The accident occurred in the evening, close to U.S. Highway 70 on Timber Drive. The Garner Police Department and CBS 17 report that shortly before 7:30 p.m., a pedestrian was walking in the area and was struck by a vehicle. It is not clear if the accident happened on the northbound or southbound side of the roadway. Garner Police Capt. Joe Binns stated that only one vehicle was involved but did not provide information about the type of vehicle. 

The report did not say where the pedestrian was walking in relation to the lanes of travel on Timber Drive. It is unclear if he was inside one of the lanes, was crossing the road, or was walking on the side of the road. Detailed information about the circumstances of the collision has not yet been released. 

CBS 17 reports that the pedestrian was injured in the accident, and emergency crews took him to WakeMed, where he tragically died. Police said they were withholding the victim’s identity until next-of-kin could be notified about the accident. 

The driver of the vehicle was also not identified in the report. The report did not say if the driver was injured or if any passengers were in the vehicle when the accident took place. 

Though the investigation of the accident is ongoing, police officers reportedly said that they do not expect charges to be filed. No further information had been released about the collision at the time the news report was posted to the CBS 17 website.
