Elderly Pedestrian Tragically Dies in Brookfield, North Carolina Accident

BROOKFIELD, NC – According to an online news report at ncadvertiser.com, a 76-year-old woman tragically died in a pedestrian accident late last week after being struck by a sports utility vehicle on Candlewood Lake Road.*

Officials were dispatched to the scene of the accident that involved a female pedestrian. The accident occurred due north of the Main Street Drive intersection in the late morning hours.  

The pedestrian is from Brookfield, North Carolina.  She was taken from the accident scene to a local hospital for treatment.  Soon thereafter, she died.  

According to police, the woman had been either jogging or walking when she was hit by a Ford sports utility vehicle that was driven by a 50-year-old man.  The accident occurred in the vicinity of 279 Candlewood Lake Road. The man, who was the only occupant in his vehicle, remained at the accident scene and called 911, per the local police.  

There are no further details on the accident at this time.  The crash remains under investigation by the local police.
