Man from Memphis Arrested Following Accident with Memphis Police Officer

MEMPHIS, TN – According to an online news report at, a man from Memphis, Tennessee has been arrested following an accident with a Memphis police officer who was on his motorcycle at the time of the crash.*

The accident occurred late last week in the vicinity of Summer and Hollywood.  Per the police report, a man, aged 34, from Memphis, Tennessee, was traveling westbound on Summer Avenue when he collided with an off-duty police officer who was on his motorcycle.   The police officer is listed as in critical condition, and sustained an injury to his leg and head.  Officers who came to the scene of the accident discovered that the suspect was not licensed at the time of the accident and failed to have proof of insurance. Officers also found numerous beer bottles in the truck, suggesting that the suspect may have been impaired at the time of the crash.  The suspect voluntarily gave a blood sample to police, the results of which are pending at this time.  The suspect has been charged with driving with no license, aggravated assault, violation of financial law, and failure to exercise care.

It is not clear whether the suspect sustained any injuries in the crash. The identity of the officer who was hit has not been released to the public.  There are no further details on the accident at this time. The crash remains under investigation by the local police.
