Motorcycle Crash Takes Life of Dickson, Tennessee Man

September 13, 2019

DICKSON, Tenn, — The driver of a pickup truck collided with a motorcycle in Dickson and the resulting impact killed the motorcycle rider according to The Tennessean. The fatal incident took place around 2:30 in the afternoon on a Sunday. The driver of the pickup, along with the passenger in the truck, claim they did not see the motorcycle before the collision. Dickson Police continues to investigate the incident. They have not concluded their inquiry to this point and have not issued criminal charges to the driver for the crash at this time. *

Dickson police responded to a motorcycle accident at the crossroads of Highway 46 southbound and Beasley Drive. After arriving at the scene, the officers located a 27-year-old man down in the street. Witnesses say that the motorcycle rider collided with a 1999 Chevy pickup driven by a man from Hickman County. The motorcycle rider drove his bike southerly on Highway 46, and the pickup truck driver was heading north on the same road. The pickup turned left without yielding to the motorcycle, heading onto Beasley Drive. The motorcycle slammed into the truck. The pickup driver told investigators that he slowed for a red light. He said they proceeded into the intersection after two vehicles before him turned. The pickup driver claimed to have not seen the motorcycle rider. The passenger in the pickup truck also told the investigating officers that he did not know the bike was there until he felt the crash.

Witnesses gave slightly conflicting stories concerning the fatal crash. Some witnesses said that the motorcycle rider was speeding just before the crash. Others refute that evidence. Investigators have not determined the rate of speed of the bike before impact.

EMS transported the motorbike operator to the local medical facility, and then a LifeFlight carried the man to Skyline Medical Center located in Nashville, Tennessee, where he died. Authorities confirmed the rider wore a helmet.
