Pedestrian Crash on Clarksville Pike Tragically Kills 1, Injures Another

September 13, 2019

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Two people were struck by a motor vehicle on the Clarksville Pike in Nashville, Tenn. The deadly crash occurred on a Sunday night. WSVM reported that a 33-year-old man was the person tragically killed and an acquaintance of his, a 45-year-old woman, sustained serious injuries in the crash. The driver of the vehicle who struck the pedestrians is a 28-year-old female. The Nashville Metro Police initiated an investigation into the fatal pedestrian crash. They have not completed their analysis of the evidence obtained from the crash at this time. *

The 28-year-old female who struck the two pedestrians told the responding officers that the pedestrians darted out in front of her vehicle and, as a result, could not stop in time to avoid hitting them. Notwithstanding the driver’s statement, the officers assigned to investigate the crash are still pursuing leads in the case, despite the driver’s story. The investigating troopers believe that there was no evidence at this time of intoxication or inebriation on behalf of the driver.

Video footage of the area of the crash captured by WSMV shows the accident scene on Clarksville Pike and Harrisville Road, in the 3900 block of Clarksville Pike. The crash happened near a gas station and convenience store that was open for business at the time.

The 33-year-old man died instantly from his wounds. However, the female survived. Medics transported her to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in critical condition. Vanderbilt Medical Center listed the woman in stable condition after physicians admitted her to the facility’s care. There was no information from the police concerning any possible criminal charges the woman might face as a consequence of hitting and killing the pedestrian. The woman did remain with her car at the scene of the fatality. Metro police have not said how long their investigation would last.
