Woman Killed In Tragic Pedestrian Crash on Interstate 24 in Nashville, Tennessee

March 21, 2020

NASHVILLE, TN- writes that a pedestrian died in a collision in Nashville this week. The victim, a 22-year-old Memphis woman, died after being struck by multiple cars. The incident appears to have started when the woman was traveling east in her Nissan Versa with a missing driver's side tire. The victim continues to travel on the rim for some time prior to striking a guardrail on the righthand shoulder.*

One driver stated that they saw someone lying in the left shoulder, but that the person then got up and ran across the interstate, jumping over the median wall, nearly being struck by a car in the process. The driver stated that he or she shouted to the individual to ask whether the individual was alright, but that the person ran off.

A short while later, a man from Smyrna was driving his 2017 Nissan Titan pickup truck when he struck the victim in the left westbound lane. The woman appears to have then been struck by multiple other vehicles, some of which did not remain at the scene. Reports did not identify any of the other vehicles believed to have been involved in the crash.

When the vehicle struck the woman, she was wearing only one shoe. The other was located in her car. Police were able to locate the woman's license in her Nissan as well, and are working to confirm her identity.

Police stated that the driver in the truck was not showing any signs of impairment at the time of the incident. Toxicology tests are pending on the victim to determine whether drugs or alcohol were involved in the deadly crash.
