Interstate 65 Northbound Opened Once Again after Semi-Truck Accident in Davidson County, Tennessee

December 08, 2019

DAVIDSON COUNTY, TN – According to an online news report at, Interstate 65 has been opened once again after a semi-truck accident in Davidson County.*

The accident has been reported by the Tennessee Department of Transportation, which indicates that the accident occurred in the early morning hours close to the 97th mile marker and Long Hollow Pike.  The crash shut down the roadway for several hours earlier this week.  While law enforcement and emergency personnel worked the scene, northbound traffic was diverted to alternative routes.

The cause of the accident as well as the identity of those involved have not been released to the public at this time.  Officials are currently investigating the crash to learn more.

Per the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, there were about 5,000 trucks that were involved in accidents back in 2017 in the United States, which represents a nine percent increase from the year prior.   These statistics regarding truck accidents are staggering, but can provide valuable insight on truck accidents – and could even assist drivers in avoiding a crash with a tractor-trailer.

In 2017, 82% of traffic deaths were occupants of passenger vehicles rather than large truck operators.  Trucks, when fully loaded, can weigh up to three times as much as passenger vehicles.   Because of their massive size and weight, people traveling around the truck can sustain fatal injuries in all types of collisions, including, without limitation, rear-end, head-on and underride accidents.
