WINFIELD, TN – According to an online news report at ihoneida.com, an elderly woman from Oneida, Tennessee tragically died in a two-vehicle accident that occurred at the intersection of Pleasant Grove Road and United States Highway 27.*
The woman, aged 93, sustained fatal injuries after she pulled out in front of a concrete truck in the afternoon hours earlier this week.
According to a report of the accident filed by a trooper with the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the woman’s vehicle, a 2017 Honda CRV, was stopped at a stop sign at the end of Pleasant Grove. She then proceeded to turn onto the highway in front of a 2008 Advance cement truck driven by a 25-year-old man who was heading northbound on United States Highway 27.
The CRV, after being struck by the cement truck, came to an uncontrolled stop off of the right side of the roadway, while the driver of the cement truck, who was uninjured in the accident, was able to maintain control of his vehicle and stop it on the left-hand side of the roadway.
Both the elderly woman and driver of the cement truck were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash, per a Tennessee Highway Patrol report.
The elderly woman was the second in her family to be killed in a traffic crash along United States Highway 27. The woman’s niece, a 60-year-old, was one of two individuals who passed away in two-vehicle accidents close to the intersection of Pine Grove Road and United States Highway 27.
