The suspect, a 23-year-old man from Chickamauga, Tennessee, was wanted by the Chattanooga Police Department and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation for his involvement in a deadly accident.
The suspect is accused of leaving a 19-year-old individual to die in a fiery crash in Fort Oglethorpe, which is close to the border of Tennessee. He is alleged to have caused a one-vehicle accident while fleeing from police after they attempted to pull him over for driving recklessly. Specifically, the suspect ran away while the victim was trapped in a burning vehicle. He is being charged with reckless aggravated assault, vehicular homicide, leaving the scene of an accident involving death and reckless endangerment, and evading police.
Police were able to apprehend the suspect in Panama City, Florida after the Bay County Sheriff’s Office received a tip that the man was staying in the 200 block of Corto Place. He was arrested while attempting to hide from police. In an attempt to evade police, he dyed his hair light blond in order to change his appearance. The man is currently in a Bay County jail where he is waiting to be extradited to Tennessee.
The Hamilton County (Tenn.) Sheriff’s Office said that more than a dozen law enforcement agencies from Florida, Georgia and Tennessee assisted in the investigation and manhunt.
