Motorcyclist Injured in Four-Vehicle Crash on I-40 in Kingston, Tennessee

October 25, 2019

KINGSTON, TN. – According to a news article published online at, a motorcyclist was injured in a four-vehicle crash that happened on Interstate 40 in Kingston, Tennessee. The accident appears to have been related in part to weather conditions, and it is not clear if any charges will be pursued in the case.*

The collision took place in the afternoon on the westbound side of I-40, near mile marker 356. Tennessee Highway Patrol and WBIR report that around 2:30 p.m., a motorcycle came onto I-40 and was traveling west in the right lane during rainy conditions. Traffic was congested at the time, and a tractor-trailer in front of the motorcycle slowed down for traffic. Troopers say that the motorcyclist could not slow in time and laid the bike down on its side.

The motorcycle then slid into the back of the tractor-trailer. Two other vehicles that were traveling west then came upon the scene. One of the vehicles, a minivan, braked to avoid a crash. The other vehicle, a van, then ran into the back of the minivan. The force of the impact pushed the minivan into the motorcycle and the tractor-trailer.

WBIR reports that the motorcyclist was injured and taken to a hospital for treatment. She was identified as a female, but her age and city of residence were not listed in the report. The extent of her injuries and her current condition were not known.

WBIR states that three people had been riding in the minivan, including a child, and two people had been riding in the van. It is unclear how many people were in the tractor-trailer. No other injuries were reported, and no one else involved in the accident was identified.

Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating, and Troopers have not released further information.
