Two High School Students Die and Two Others are Injured Following Violent Crash
LANCASTER COUNTY, SC – According to an online news report at wsoctv.com, two high school students died in a serious accident that injured two others, per the South Carolina Highway Patrol.*
The accident occurred in the morning on Highway 521 at Rebound Road, close to Van Wyck. According to troopers with the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the vehicle, for unknown reasons, left the roadway and hit into a tree, resulting in the death of the driver and a passenger. Two others in the vehicle sustained serious injuries following the accident. They were transported by medical helicopter to a Charlotte hospital for treatment. All of the individuals in the vehicle were South Pointe High School students.
The names of the victims have not been released at this time. The driver of the vehicle had just gotten the car for his 17th birthday. According to the victim’s mother, "[w]hen they came to the door, because I knew it was going to be some bad new[s]. My heart is not only aching for my son, but for the other three involved. They were just being happy kids. No child is perfect, no child. And no parent wants to get that call, your child will walk through that door again."
There are no further details on the accident at this time. The crash remains under investigation by the local police.
