Motorcycle Crash Injures Two on Highway 707 in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina (SC)

July 26, 2020

MURRELLS INLET, SC- Wmbfnews.com writes that a crash involving a motorcycle led to two people being hospitalized in Murrells Inlet. The incident took place in the mid-afternoon on Highway 707.*

According to reports, a Mini Cooper was also involved in the collision. The victims were both on the motorcycle at the time of the crash. The conditions of those individuals are not known at this time.

Following the crash, authorities closed the highway close to Prince Creek Parkway, and tow trucks arrived to remove the motorcycle and the Mini Cooper. It is not clear what caused the accident, and investigations are still ongoing.

Motorcyclists are at a greater risk on the road than are people in cars. Anyone riding should learn to operate their vehicle effectively and continue to hone their skills. Of course, no matter how great a rider a person is, they are still sharing the road with other drivers who may not be as cautious. Sadly, many motorists in larger vehicles often fail to consider motorcycles on the road. In most crashes between motorcycles and cars, the car enters the motorcycle’s path. While the driver may be at fault in many of these scenarios, the consequences will be harshest on the motorcyclist. Motorists should be more conscious of the possibility of a motorcycle being on the road and should take more care to keep an eye out for these motorists.

Drivers may cause crashes because they fail to see a smaller vehicle such as a motorcycle, because the motorcycle is in a blind spot, or because the driver is not paying attention. Driver’s education programs should focus on such issues and train drivers to use more caution.
