Suspected DUI Crash Tragically Kills One Person on Seaboard Rd. in Andrews, South Carolina

ANDREWS, SC. – According to a news report posted online at, a crash suspected to have involved driving under the influence tragically killed one person and injured another. The crash happened on Seaboard Road in Andrews, South Carolina, and South Carolina Highway Patrol is still investigating.*

The collision occurred in the evening on the westbound side of Seaboard Road. It is not clear where exactly the accident happened, as no intersection or block number was provided in the news report. South Carolina Highway Patrol and WBTW report that around 7:30 p.m., a westbound 2014 GMC pickup truck crashed into the back of a westbound 2010 Chevrolet SUV. The models of the two vehicles were not reported.

It is unclear if the Chevy was stopped at a light or had slowed for some reason. The circumstances leading to the rear-end crash were not included in the report, so it is not clear why the accident occurred. Troopers are still in the process of investigating the cause of the accident. 

WBTW reports that the driver of the Chevy was tragically killed in the crash. This person was not identified in the report. In addition, WBTW states that a passenger riding in the Chevy was injured and transported to Grand Strand Medical Center for treatment. This person was also not identified. His or her injuries are said to be serious. 

The driver of the GMC was identified as a 37-year-old man from Andrews, and WBTW states that he was not injured in the collision. During their investigation at the scene, authorities developed cause to believe that he was under the influence. WBTW reports that the man was arrested and has been charged with two counts of felony driving under the influence. He is reportedly being held at the Williamsburg County Detention Center.
