Cooper Tires Initiates Safety Recall

Tirereview.com published an announcement relating to Cooper Tires’ recall initiative for its Roadmaster models. The recall is necessary because the inner wall of the tires is too thin and, as a result, cause a blowout. A blowout might cause a rapid loss of control over the vehicle and create a hazardous situation which could endanger anyone riding in the car those experiences a blowout, other motorists, pedestrians, motorcycle riders, and bicycle riders sharing the roads. Blowout accidents can injure or kill anyone involved in a crash because tire blowouts can violently throw the vehicle off course. *

Cooper Tire & Rubber Company announced it must recall the Roadmaster RM 852 model of tires. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said that the Department of Transportation date codes on the recalled truck tires are 4618 to and including 4818. The size of the recalled tires is 295/75R22.5. Cooper manufactured the recalled tires from November 18, 2018 to December 8, 2018. Cooper Tires did not elaborate as to why the defect occurred during the manufacturing process.

Cooper Tires said that it would notify all of its customers about the recall. Cooper Tires asked consumers to have their tires examined by certified Cooper Tire specialists. Technicians can measure the inner wall and can also look for anomalies that develop in the inner wall of the tires. Cooper Tires will replace all of the tires that have inner sidewalls that are too thin. Customers can also contact the company to inquire about recall services. Customers should reference Cooper Tire recall number 173.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported that Cooper would recall 4,405 individual tires. The notice filed with federal regulators by Cooper Tires indicates that only one percent of all of the tires it produced. The number assigned to the recall program by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is 19T006000.
