2019 Ford Defective Parts Resulting in Accident Injuries and Wrongful Death Lawsuits

Ford Initiates Massive Auto Safety Recall

DETRIOT, Mich. — The Ford Motor Company announced that it would recall vehicles from ten of its model lines. Mednews365.com reported that the recall is necessary to repair safety issues that could cause accidents and then injure or kill anyone occupying the Ford, another vehicle, motorcycle rider, bicycle rider, or pedestrian. In excess of 665,000 individual vehicles comprise Ford’s recall efforts. Ford indicates that no injuries or deaths have occurred up to this point in the recall process. *

Ford says that its recall efforts may be broken down into four distinct categories, all of which are safety-related. The first category involves defective seats in the vehicles. The seats do not work correctly in conjunction with the vehicle’s safety systems to ensure that the seatbelts work correctly. Defective seatbelts certainly cannot restrain a person involved in an accident. The models with the seating defects are 2018-2020 F-150, 2019-2020 F-Series Super Duty, 2018-2019 Explorer, 2019-2020 Expedition, and 2020 Lincoln Aviator.

Other vehicles suffer a defect in the power steering assist. A defective gear motor could break free and cut out the power steering. Loss of power steering will make the vehicle more difficult to control because it will not respond quickly when the driver turns the wheel. Vehicles under recall for this problem include 2013-2016 Fusion, 2013-2016 Lincoln MKZ, 2015-2016 Edge, and 2016 Lincoln MKX.

The third recall category involves vehicles that could lose braking power. At this time, only the 2019 Fiesta sedans are under recall for this defect. The front brake calipers of the Fiesta have been known to leak brake fluid. Leaking brake fluid could cause the brakes to overheat and not correctly work when applied, thereby causing a crash.

The final group of recalled vehicles includes the 2012-2013 Fiesta models. According to reports, the battery junction box can corrode and, if that happens, the headlights will dim when in use at night and the daytime running lights would no longer work.
