Recalled Takata Airbags Result in Shrapnel Eye and Facial Injury Lawsuits in Alabama
Takata Airbag Injury Lawsuit Lawyers Serving Alabama
BIRMINGHAM, AL – According to an online news report at wtvm.com, thousands of vehicles on Alabama roads are suspected of having defective airbags.*
Thousands of vehicles in Alabama contain airbags that are defective. Over the past couple of years, there has been an issue with airbags that contain shrapnel. Once the airbag is deployed, it throws shrapnel around the vehicle, per AAA of Alabama.
In fact, there have been over twelve people who died in the United States and more than 300 who sustained serious injuries due to the defective airbags. “We have recently learned that 22% of the cars on the road, in Alabama, are subject to this recall and have not been addressed. That’s almost one in four cars out there that have this problem, have this issue,” said AAA of Alabama.
The issue of defective airbags dates back to the Takata airbag safety recall, which was the largest and most complicated recall in United States history. It spanned tens of millions of automobiles from nineteen different manufacturers.
Drivers are urged to have their airbags checked, as even a minor accident can cause the airbags to deploy. AAA recommends that drivers have their vehicles checked to be sure that their airbags are not defective. “Especially when cars change hands a couple of times, you can kind of get lost in the shuffle. So, it’s up to each person to check their own vehicle," AAA of Alabama noted.
