How to Protect Your Child from Becoming a Victim of Daycare Dangers

May 23, 2019

SARASOTA, FL – According to an online news report at, a question that is being raised is whether your child is being well cared for at a daycare.  It is a question that most parents would hope is yes, but that is not the case for those in South Sarasota County.*

In a video provided to news outlets from the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office, it evinces a daycare employee acting with aggression towards young children at a South Venice daycare facility.  The woman daycare worker has been charged with three counts of child abuse.

"This is very nerve-wracking, like I’m shaking right now nerve-wracking,” a Venice parent noted in response to learning about the above incident.

A similar incident occurred at another daycare facility in South County, located in North Port.  A mother of a ten month year old child alleges that her child was burned while at a daycare facility.

"It does appear to be an accident. However, an accident that could’ve been avoided. An accident that caused severe injury to an infant,” the parent’s attorney notes.

The parents were told by the daycare facility that the child was in a high chair and reached over to a counter where a crock-pot was located that was filled with hot water. This facility, a result of the accident, is now being investigated by local authorities.

The attorney for the parents of the burned child indicates that there has been a rise in dangers at daycare facilities.  He indicates that "[u]nfortunately, we’ve heard lately that there have been more instances, more accidents, like this. It’s very unfortunate. That’s why we’re on board to not only protect the interests of the child, but to make sure this doesn’t happen again.”

Although most day cares are excellent facilities that take care of our children, given the above, parents are urged to fully check out daycare facilities before they choose to enroll their child.
