Passenger Killed in Single-Vehicle Crash in Kissimmee, Florida; Driver Runs from Scene

May 25, 2019

KISSIMMEE, FL. – According to an online news report posted at postivelyosceola.com, a passenger in a vehicle was killed in a single-car accident in Kissimmee, Florida. The driver of the car ran away from the scene, according to the news report, and a suspect was later arrested and charged in connection with the incident.*

The accident happened in the early morning hours of Sunday, May 19, on San Lorenzo Road in Kissimmee. Florida Highway Patrol and Positively Osceola report that at approximately 3:30 a.m. that day, a 2019 Toyota (model not reported) was traveling north on San Lorenzo Road. Near the intersection with Cortez Road, the driver of the car reportedly lost control.

The cause of the loss of control is not yet clear, but the vehicle ended up leaving the roadway, after which it crashed into a sign. The passenger’s side of the Toyota then struck a tree, and the vehicle came to a rest following this collision. Troopers say that following the crash, the driver of the Toyota got out of the vehicle and ran away from the scene on foot.

Positively Osceola reports that a passenger in the Toyota was killed in the accident. She was described only as a female.

Authorities immediately began a search for the missing driver, and late in the evening on the same day, officers located the suspected driver at the Apollo Inn. Positively Osceola reports the suspect, identified as a 26-year-old man, was placed under arrest shortly before 11 p.m. on May 19 and charged with vehicular homicide, leaving the scene of a fatal accident, and driving with a revoked license.
