Head-on Collision on Georgia 49 in Byron Leaves One Man Dead
BYRON, GEORGIA – As reported online by Macon.com and 13wmaz.com, a 31-year-old man suffered fatal injuries in a head-on collision on Georgia 49.*
On the morning of May 1, 2019, a 31-year-old man sustained fatal injuries in a head-on collision in Byron. The deceased man was traveling west on Georgia 49 when he reportedly crossed the center line, striking a pickup truck traveling eastbound. The accident happened near W.E. Green Parkway, approximately one mile south of Interstate 75.
According to the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), the 31-year-old man was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. The deceased man was transported to Navicent Health in Peach County where he was pronounced dead shortly before 11:00 p.m. The driver of the pickup truck traveling westbound on Georgia 49 was treated at an area hospital but did not sustain any serious injuries.
The GSP is still investigating the accident and has not charged the pickup driver with any crime or traffic violation.
