Firehouse Subs Donates Equipment to Moultrie Fire, Police Departments

December 19, 2018

MOULTRIE, GA. – As reported in an online story at moultrieobserver.com, the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation donated safety equipment to the fire and police departments of Moultrie, Georgia, in a ceremony that took place at the end of November.*

Firehouse Subs opened a restaurant location in Moultrie about a year ago, and on November 28, the restaurant company’s Public Safety Foundation donated equipment valued at more than $100,000 to first responders in the area, including the Moultrie Fire Department and Moultrie Police Department. Three self-contained breathing apparatuses went to the fire department, which cost more than $21,000 and will replace heavier, older apparatuses. These provide firefighters with valuable protection from harmful air contaminants.

“We are incredibly grateful for this grant from the foundation,” said Robin Lawson, Moultrie Fire Department Investigator. “Not only does it enable us to replace outdated and obsolete gear, but the new equipment is ergonomically designed for comfort, reducing fatigue on our firefighters. It is also designed with features that allow easier and more complete cleanup and decontamination, adding a layer of protection for our firefighters by reducing their exposure to toxins, which in turn reduces the risk of cancer.”

Nine ballistic protective vests and seven entry ballistic protective vests with ballistic plates went to the police department. These vests cost almost $30,000 and will help to shield officers working in emergency situations in the line of duty.

The ceremony took place at the Tifton Firehouse Subs and was attended by local first responders, Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation Director Robin Peters, Firehouse Subs representatives, and Firehouse Subs franchisees.
