Woman Saved at Diner by Nurses; Arrhythmia Foundation Plans to Donate a Defibrillator to the Diner in Honor of Kelly Davis, a Heart Attack Victim
ATLANTA, GA - June 22, 2018 (13max.com). According to an online news report at 13maz.com, the Georgia Arrhythmia Foundation is donating a defibrillator in honor of heart attack victim who was saved by four nurses.*
On April 6, 2018, a woman named Kelly Davis went to the bathroom and when she returned, slumped over in her seat. A nurse, Rachel Applegate, and her friends, immediately responded to render aid to Davis. Applegate was used to springing into action at work but not at a local diner. The incident occurred at the Metro Diner on Northside Drive.
"I look over and I see someone and she's blue," Applegate stated. "I started compressions and did what we call in the hospital, 'coded her,' for quite sometime."
Four additional individuals, who all happened to be nurses, assisted Applegate in saving Davis’ life.
“Davis is now back at work and fully recovered, but in the hours after it happened, her family knew they had to reach out to the folks that helped save her life.”
Davis is grateful to those that saved her life. "My daughters said we've got to get in touch with these people because if it weren't for them I wouldn't be here," Davis noted.
The next morning after the incident, Applegate came into work to learn that Davis was now her patient.
"Just out of all the nurses in Macon it was her, so we've got this very special bond, she's very dear to me, Davis said.
The defibrillator was delivered on Monday, June 25, 2018 at 2 p.m.
