Gyroor C3 E-bikes Recalled Due to Battery Pack Fires & Injuries

January 03, 2023

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced that the agency will be working with Gyroor, a Chinese e-bicycle manufacturer, to recall approximately 3,000 Gyroor C3 e-bikes.

The Gyroor C3 e-bikes are being recalled due to defective battery packs that can ignite, causing home fires, injuries, and deaths. Affected customers are urged to contact Gyroor at gyroor.com/recalls as soon as possible to learn what they must do to avoid a fire and return the e-bikes.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission stated that when this e-bike recall was announced, there were no recall details provided on the Gyroor website. However, the company's recall page has been updated.

This e-bicycle recall concerns the battery packs that were installed on Gyroor C3 e-bikes. The word "C3" is printed on the seat tube, and the bicycle's serial number is located on the frame underneath the headlights and starts with the number 8330. The recalled Gyroor C3 e-bikes are black and have red stripes. The Gyroor logo is located on the bicycle's downtube.

Owners of the recalled Gyroor C3 e-bikes should immediately stop using the battery packs on their e-bikes immediately and speak with Gyroor about a repair. Customers will receive a replacement battery pack at no charge. Gyroor will attempt to reach all known customers directly.

Gyroor is aware of two incident reports in which the battery packs caught on fire. Two victims sustained injuries that needed medical treatment. These injuries included burns to the feet and smoke inhalation.

The Gyroore bikes were sold online at amazon.com, walmart.com, gyroor.com, and gyroorboard.com from November 2020 until October 1, 2022 at a price of $600.
