Good Matters Candles Recalled Due to Fire Injury Risks
A news article published on pennlive.com states reports that Good Matters Candles are being recalled because they burn at temperatures above safe limits.
Specifically, Good Matters is issuing the recall because the-wick candles can burn at a "higher than usual" temperature, causing the candles to break or catch fire, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission. The importer, Advantage Sales and Marketing, also reported in its recall announcement that the recalled Good Matters three-wick candle jars can break, causing laceration injuries.
According to an announcement with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Good Matters has received reports of the candles catching fire, "cracking or breaking apart while in use, resulting in minor property damage and one consumer being burned."
The recall affects over 30,000 candles that were sold on Amazon.com and at Gabriel Brothers, Bealls, Tuesday Morning, and Homegoods retail stores nationwide. The candles were sold from December 2021 through August 2022 at a price of around $50. The affected candles were packaged in a 21-ounce glass tumbler (jar) with a wooden lid that has the words "Good Matters" embossed on the wooden lid. The candles were offered in several colors, including blue, black, white, pink, and yellow. The candles were offered in the following nice scents: Citrus+Basil, Leather+Oud, Cypress+ Fig, Snowfall, Homecoming, Hope, Wild Pine, Love, and Peace. Good Matters' recall notice states that one of the following phrases were printed on the jar's front: "Hope, No. 1; Love, No. 2; Peace, No. 3; Cypress+Fig; Leather+Oud; Citrus+Basil; or Winter Wonderland."
