Crate And Barrel Thornhill Baby Cribs Recalled Due to Fall and Entrapment Dangers

December 29, 2022

On December 15, 2022, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the national recall of Crate And Barrel Thornhill Baby Cribs.

These baby cribs were recalled due to fall and entrapment dangers. The name of the product is "Thornhill Dark Brown and Natural Baby Cribs." According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the issue involved defective mattress support pins that either do not fit properly or become loose, causing the baby crib mattress to fall and leading to severe injuries or deaths.

According to Crate And Barrel, the company is offering a full refund or a replacement. There were approximately 300 of these recalled baby cribs sold in Canada and the United States. Customers who purchased the recalled Thornhill Dark Brown and Natural Baby Cribs should visit crateandbarrel.com for contact and recall information. Simply click on the "Recalls" link found at the bottom of the Crate and Barrel home page.

The recalled Thornhill Dark Brown and Natural Baby Cribs are described as having gold-capped feet and a dark brown wash finish. The baby crib's model number is 304-903. The model number can be found by looking at the mattress's support board. Customers who have a recalled baby crib are urged to immediately stop using the cribs and call Crate and Barrel to receive a free replacement or a full refund. Crate and Barrel is also trying to contact all known purchasers directly.

Crate and Barrel have received about six adverse incident reports. The report states that mattress support pins were not fitting correctly, or they were falling out of the crib, causing the mattress to fall. These recalled baby mattresses were sold online at crateandbarrel.com from September 2021 until October 2022 at the cost of $1,000.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is tasked with protecting Americans from unreasonable risk of injury or death caused by defective or dangerous consumer products. The CPSC estimates that defective and dangerous products cost the nation more than $1 trillion every year. Federal law forbids companies and people from selling products that are the subject of a voluntary recall launched in consultation with the CPSC or a commission-ordered recall.
