Catastrophic, Fatal Shooting at The Villages at Carver in SE Atlanta
According to a tragic news story published on NewsBreak.com, a 16-year-old was tragically shot and killed at The Villages at Carver in southeast Atlanta.*
Our hearts go out to the family of the victim, and we ask, "What can be done to prevent these tragedies?" The horrific fatal shooting occurred last Tuesday evening, Atlanta Police reported. The news report states that law enforcement officers were called to an apartment complex located off of Moury Avenue at around 9 PM. A 911 caller said that a teenager was shot. Atlanta Police discovered the shooting victim when they arrived at the scene of the crime but tragically discovered the sixteen-year-old shooting victim had already passed away.
Channel 2 Action News reported that the victim was only 16 years old, and his name was not made public at this time. Residents at The Villages at Carver apartment complex described to the news reporters that they heard several shots during the incident. Atlanta Police has not published any additional details concerning the fatal shooting.
The news report also reported that this was not the first fatal shooting to occur at The Villages at Carver apartment complex and in the surrounding area.
Last June, a 17-year-old boy and 18-year-old man were tragically shot and killed in a shooting incident at The Villages at Carver, law enforcement authorities said.
On August 20, 2022, a 19-year-old was tragically shot and killed while in his home that was less than a mile away from The Villages, according to Atlanta Police. Atlanta Police officers discovered the teen was severely wounded as the officers arrived at the victim's home located on Lakewood Avenue. Tragically, the young man passed away at a local hospital due to his gunshot wounds, Atlanta Police said.
