Hisense Refrigerators Recalled Due to Injury Risk
According to a news report posted on pennlive.com, Hisense U.S.A. has recalled its French door refrigerators with bottom freezers that are exclusively sold at Lowe's. The recall was initiated after it was discovered that the refrigerators had a defect causing the doors to fall off, potentially causing injuries.
According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the affected refrigerators were retailed at Lowe's retail stores and Lowes.com for around $1,500 from August 2020 through February 2022.
The affected refrigerators are described as 26.6-cubic-feet stainless steel refrigerators with a model number HRF266N6CSE and a serial number with a range from C2020050100001 through C2020123109000.
According to the recall announcement, the refrigerator door hinge on the unit might break off, causing the door to fall off. The company has received nearly 140 incident reports of the refrigerator doors detaching or loosening. There have been five reports of injuries, including lacerations.
Consumers who own the affected refrigerators are urged to contact Hisense U.S.A. to schedule their free in-home repair. The repair includes replacing the refrigerator door hinges.
