Six Fatal Motorcycle Accidents, Multiple Trauma Cases, Reported During Daytona's 80th Bike Week
DAYTONA BEACH, FL - Six bikers have been tragically killed in motorcycle accidents during Daytona's 80th Bike Week. Several other bikers sustained severe injuries and were transported to Halifax Health Medical Center. Daytona's 80th Bike Week began on March 5, 2021, and lasted until March 14, 2021.
According to John Guthrie, a spokesman for the Halifax Health Medical Center, the event was a tragic, record-breaking week for motorcycle accident injuries and deaths.
The fifth death to happen at the Daytona Bike Week occurred at 5:27 in the morning. The fatal accident occurred on the event's final day. The victim was a woman from Seabrook, New Hampshire, according to Messod Bendayan, a Daytona Beach police spokesman. The New Hampshire woman was riding as a passenger when the motorcycle she was riding was rear-ended by a motor vehicle along International Speedway Boulevard by Hagen Terrace's intersection. The motorcycle operator's bike was hit from behind by a Toyota RAV 4 SUV. The motorcycle operator was taken to Halifax Health Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The SUV driver agreed to have his blood drawn when officers witnessed signs of impairment.
