Georgia COVID-19 Cases Rise
GEORGIA- Ajc.com writes that Georgia is not done battling the outbreak of the coronavirus. The number of new cases increased this week as well as last week. Some counties are seeing spikes and new outbreak clusters.*
The state has opened up and lowered the restrictions on businesses and gatherings. At the same time, more tests are being administered to track the spread of the disease. The state had a four-week run of declining numbers.
The number of hospitalizations remains lower than it was at the beginning of May, and yet this number is also now on the rise. One expert stated that Georgia is currently plateaued, but at an elevated level. Researchers also warned that the battle against the virus is still in its early stages.
Georgia is not alone in having a rise in cases of the virus in recent weeks. Twenty states are seeing increasing numbers. Puerto Rico is also seeing the numbers of infected individuals grow. It is important to note that the number of confirmed cases is on a delay. People typically do not get tested until they are exhibiting symptoms. The results of the test will not be returned for several days, further delaying the reported number of cases.
Health officials are warning the public to wear masks, social distance, and frequently wash hands. The rise in cases is causing experts to express concern.
