75% of the Residents at Arbor Terrace at Cascade Nursing Home Have Coronavirus; 15 have died

April 28, 2020

ATLANTA - April 24, 2020 - According to an online news story published on, some of the most heartwrenching stories concerning the coronavirus are about the tragedies that are occurring in Georgia nursing homes. Family members gathered near nursing care facility, Arbor Terrace at Cascade, to hold a vigil for those who tragically lost loved ones who contracted COVID-19 infections at a nursing home. The assisted living facility is located in southwest Atlanta. The senior living facility recently announced fifteen residents have passed away from the coronavirus at their facility.

The news report states that Fulton County District 6 Commissioner Joe Carn reported that he was not a health expert, but it is obvious that there is a problem inside the facility.

Currently, 37 residents are still living at Arbor Terrace. Twenty-eight residents have tested positive for the coronavirus.

The news report states that many people want the nursing home to be shut down. Dr. Sandra Elizabeth Ford, the interim director of the Fulton County Board of Health, stated that she disagrees with shutting down the nursing home facility at this time. Dr. Ford believes that shutting down the nursing home facility would increase the risk of infection, spread the illness further, and would present additional challenges.

Arbor Terrace sent a letter to families of their residents outlining the actions staff was taking to stop the spread of the coronavirus. These actions include making sure the staff has the proper protective equipment and extensive testing. Members of the Georgia National Guard have cleaned the facility twice to help stop the spread of the virus.
